Carbon offset and Severnprint. Many companies have chosen the carbon offset route as a way of mitigating the impact that their businesses have on the environment.

The Severnprint approach is different – we think that the first task of a business is to make sure that it becomes as efficient as possible in its use of energy. This is an on-going process and is expensive and any carbon offset money is best spent in the company making its processes efficient.

Carbon offset as implemented by many other companies is dependent on taking the future benefits of environmental projects such as tree planting and applying these forward benefits to the current financial year. This seems to be a flawed approach.
