Severnprint has rounded off another successful year in its efforts to provide environmental print options for its customers, with the addition of the Forest Stewardship Council’s prestigious ‘Chain of Custody’ certification.
The company, which was recently named as the winners of the 2004 BPIF Excellence Award for the Environment, has become only the fifth printer in the UK to achieve the FSC standard.
The FSC’s Chain of Custody promotes sustainable forestry and implements a system that traces products back to their forest of origin. Accredited companies are required to monitor supply chain conditions and integrate review procedures into their production operations.
Certification allows Severnprint to use the internationally-recognised FSC logo on products printed on FSC certified papers, and further widens the range of options available to a growing number of customers requesting green print.
“We see close partnership with our customers as the key driver in expanding environmentally-friendly print,” said Susan Morton, Severnprint’s Environmental Manager. “To be certified shows a greater awareness of our environmental responsibility in proving that the paper we print on can be traced back to sustainably-managed forests.”
