Severnprint's green figures for 2009
At the recent annual review of Severnprint’s environmental improvement we look at how the company has fared over the last year. The figures for 2009 make interesting reading and show that we are still able to make big improvements even after 20 years since publishing our first environmental policy.
The number of printed impressions including digital shows an increase of 23% since 2003.
In spite of producing more our inputs have reduced!
-
Water usage has reduced by 60% since 2003
-
Gas consumption down by 19% since 2003
-
Heating oil down by 47%
-
Electricity use has fallen by 2% in spite of an increase in Severnprint’s business premises with the purchase of unit 11. Consumption per million printed impressions is reduced by 2% in 2009 compared to 2008.
-
Removing alcohol (IPA) from Severnprint during 2009 has reduced the VOC emissions by a huge 73% compared to 2003.
Severnprint vehicle usage – vehicle carbon dioxide emissions have reduced by 7.3 tonnes since 2004 and down on 2008 by 5 tonnes. Total litres of fuel used in 2009 were 6% lower than 2008.
To see such marked improvements without reducing our sales or output shows that there is a viable sustainable alternative for businesses. The future is green!
