BPIF Excellence Awards Winner

Severnprint have just picked up their most prestigious accolade to date – the British Printing Industry Federation’s (BPIF) Excellence Award for the Environment 2004.

The award was presented by TV personalities Tony Hawks and Etholle George at a glittering ceremony in front of a packed audience of over 400 representatives from the cream of the UK printing industry, which was held at the Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, London.

Susan Morton, Severnprint’s Environmental Manager, was delighted by the company’s achievement. “The initial application process was very tough, involving the completion of an extensive questionnaire that required information on all aspects of how we control the environmental impacts of the business,” she explained.

“This was followed up by a visit from the judges, to view for themselves how we implement our environmental procedures and the improvements we have achieved”.

Dale Wallis, the BPIF’s National Health, Safety and Environment Advisor, who judged the entry, commended Severnprint as “worthy winners”. Attaining ISO14001 certification for their environmental procedures in 2003 was an important factor in Severnprint’s success, but what made their entry stand out from the rest of the competition was the company’s proactive attitude in promoting their environmental approach to their customers.

Sales Director, David Pealing, recognises the progress this latest award represents – both for the company and for the people who work there: “It demonstrates that being environmentally aware is also a sound business decision. Environmental procedures help improve efficiency, ensuring that the company can stay very competitive, and attract customers because of our green credentials”.
