But here’s a new piece of kit set to make a big difference to Severnprint’s customers. Your artwork comes in… and your printed items come out! But along the way your job goes through a chain of departments, and is handled by up to seven or eight people. So it’s vital it goes through as smoothly as possible. That’s why Severnprint have recently invested in the new Prinergy workflow technology. In a nutshell, it’s software that makes the trickiest stage of any job – pre-press – not only quicker, but more accurate too. And that’s a bonus for both printer and customer. Total solution Joel Collins, from Severnprint’s pre-press department, told us “Prinergy handles all processes between submission of artwork through to final plate output, and through to eventual archiving”. While pre-press staff still check the artwork files for page sequence, orientation, bleed and so forth, Prinergy greatly reduces the number of manual checks needed. It can also take action to alter the content of a page, if a potential problem is found. This puts it streets ahead of other software packages currently available. At the end of the job, the work is automatically archived. And the location of the data is monitored by a database – so it can be retrieved almost instantly. The new Prinergy system is already proving to be a great bonus to the pre-press department as part of Severnprint’s continual investment in new technology. Next Story |
