British Waterways Museum in Gloucester fights back

Gloucester is home to the British Waterways Museum - it is based in Gloucester docks - an area of much new development. Earlier this year the museum was expecting to have reduced opening hours to save money.
When Severnprint heard of this we offered to help support the museum with the printing of a flyer to hand out at the opening of the Gloucester Quays and to provide some printed prizes for the photographic competition.
The competition was a big hit with 70 entries all of a high standard. Hugh Conway Jones the chairman of the Trustees of the Museum organised the competition and led the judging of the competition.

The prize-giving took place on Saturday the 8th of August at 11.00am in the museum. The prizes of a print of the winning picture and a set of postcards were presented by David Pealing of Severnprint. Afterwards the winners and runners up were invited to look around the museum and then take the Queen Boadicea tourist boat on a trip down the Sharpness Canal from the museum at Gloucester docks to 2 mile bend on the Bristol Road - not far from Severnprint.

The winners were:

Ian Lovejoy
Carole Williams
Jeff Arris
Sophie Gardner
and Shai Hartland

In the docks it was a warm day and there was a distinct holiday feel to the whole area. There were pleasure cruisers arriving for the weekend, people on bikes on the towpaths and some of the new apartment residents were enjoying a breakfast on their balconies overlooking the docks.
